Mexican Silver Libertad
The Mexican Silver Libertad is a world-renowned series of coins that embodies Mexico’s spirit of independence and rich cultural heritage. Introduced in 1982 by the Casa de Moneda de México (Mexican Mint), the Silver Libertad is one of the most beautiful and recognizable bullion coins in the world.
The coin’s obverse features the iconic “Winged Victory” statue, a symbol of Mexican freedom and independence, standing against the backdrop of the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes. The newly redesigned reverse includes Mexico’s national coat of arms, surrounded by historical versions of the emblem, which varies depending on the size of the coin. Struck in .999 fine silver, the Libertad is available in a range of weights ranging from 1/20th oz to 1kg with other weights including a 2-ounce coin and a 5-ounce coin. It is often produced in low mintages, making them highly collectible. All sizes and weights are available in brilliant uncirculated and proof finishes, with only the 1 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz and 1 kg available in proof-like finishes.
